CLEVELAND (AP) β Cleveland hosts its first game of the NBA Finals since 2007 when they face Golden State in Game 3 tonight. The series is tied at a game each after Cleveland’s Game 2 victory in overtime. The Cavaliers have won 26 of their last 28 home games.
ATLANTA (AP) β James Shields tries to stay unbeaten tonight when he takes a 7-0 mark and 1.85 ERA into San Diego’s game against the Braves in Atlanta. He’s off to the best start to a season by a Padres pitcher since Andy Hawkins went 11-0 to open the 1985 season.
NEW YORK (AP) β The AL East leading Yankees welcome slumping Washington to town tonight, riding a six-game winning streak. Max Scherzer gets the start for the Nationals who have lost eight of their last ten to fall a half-game back of the Mets for first place in the NL East. Scherzer has a 1.85 ERA.
DENVER (AP) β The Cardinals’ Michael Wacha has built an 8-1 record this season on the strength of a major-league leading six road wins. He gets a chance to improve on those numbers when he starts at Colorado tonight. Wacha has a 2.18 ERA.
MILAN (AP) β An Argentine businessman who was indicted by U.S. authorities in connection to the FIFA corruption case has turned himself in to Italian police. Alejandro Burzaco is president of a sports marketing firm and was named in a U.S. indictment saying he bribed soccer officials in exchange for the media and commercial rights to international tournaments.
