
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives have arrested a man believed to be responsible for a string of crimes that recently targeted Asian nail salon employees.
Authorities have charged Steven Johnson for a series of home invasions and armed robberies in the Steele Creek and University areas, as well as crimes committed in Huntersville.
Robbery Detectives using CMPD”s Crime Lab and Crime Analysis, and assistance from the Huntersville Police Department identified Mr. Johnson as as suspect and arrested him without incident on Monday.
Following an interview at police headquarters, Mr. Johnson was charged with five counts of 2nd degree Kidnapping, four counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, three counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, three counts of Larceny after Breaking and Entering, two counts of Assault by Pointing a Gun, two counts of Communicating Threats, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Interfering with Emergency Communications. Mr. Johnson is currently in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation continues and additional charges against Mr. Johnson are pending.
