Β CHARLOTTE, NC — Connecting CMS students to job opportunities in Charlotte. Β That’s the mission of the Mayor’s youth employment program.
Wednesday in north Charlotte, hundreds got together to kick off eight-week summer internships. Β This year, more than 300 local high school students will intern with 80 employers.
“It may not be the biggest item in the budget, but connecting young people to future career opportunities is really the most important thing we can be doing right now,” said Mayor Dan Clodfelter (D).
The internships are in the public, non-profit and private sectors. Β Students are paid about $8 an hour.
