Police: 1 Dead, 3 Injured After Shooting In Parking Lot Of Shelby, N.C. Business

SHELBY, N.C. — Police say an 18-year-old was killed and three other people were injured after a shooting broke out in the rear parking lot of Skooterz Saloon in Shelby early Saturday morning.

Officers received a 911 call regarding the shooting around 12:30 a.m.

At the scene, officers determined multiple people had been shot.

A victim, later identified by authorities as Zechariah Freeman, was found suffering from a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, 32-year-old Calvin Gullatte, 32-year-old Arron Smith, and 31-year-old Constance Hayes, the additional identified victims, sustained non-life threatening injuries from the exchange of gunfire.

Police say there were a lot of people in the parking lot at the time of shooting and the victims with non-life threatening injuries were the result of damage to vehicle property.

Detectives say they are still in the early stages of the investigation, so no details regarding the motive are available at this time.
