Two Teens in Custody After Car-Jacking Man in East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officers have charged two teens in an armed robbery car-jacking case that happened in east Charlotte. 

On Thursday, around 5:18 a.m., officers were called to the 6200 block of Barrington Drive. The victim told authorities that two armed suspects had approached him and taken his vehicle by force. The suspects then left the scene in the victim’s car. 

A short time later, officers located the suspects in the vehicle on W. Sugar Creek Road. Officers attempted to stop the car but the suspects refused and a short pursuit occurred to the 3400 block of Oakwood Avenue.

Officers were able to take the driver into custody but the passenger left the scene on foot. The passenger was later located by K-9 dogs. The 15-year-old male juvenile was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, armed robbery, reckless driving, speeding to elude apprehension, and driving without a license. The 14-year-old male juvenile was charged with armed robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle.
