CHARLOTTE, NC — A “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” prayer vigil was held Thursday night in Huntersville.  Dozens of people filled Jonahville A.M.E. Zion Church.  They talked about what young people should do when they come face to face with police and how the African-American community can support one another.

“The rioting is not going to bring Michael Brown back, and it’s a disrespect to the Brown family as they have asked the protesters to really not do it, but be as peaceful as possible as well,” said Mario Black, founder of Million Youth March of Charlotte.

Meantime, a defense fund on Gofundme.com to support the officer who shot Brown is now at more than $181,000.
