JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) β The Jacksonville Jaguars have hired former Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone as assistant head coach and offensive line coach.
Marrone replaces George Yarno, who left the team last June to begin cancer treatment. Assistant Luke Butkus was the interim O-line coach for the season.
With two rookies and two second-year players starting on the line, the Jaguars gave up a franchise-record 71 sacks. Two days after the season, coach Gus Bradley said he expected Yarno to return for the 2015 season.
Marrone interviewed with Bradley last week. The Jaguars, who are coaching the Senior Bowl this week in Mobile, Alabama, still need to hire an offensive coordinator.
Marrone exercised an opt-out clause in his contract after the Bills were sold following the death of owner Ralph Wilson.
