Snapchat Message Leads To Fatal Mt. Pleasant Stabbing

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — Sixteen-year-old Matt Fishcer has been charged with murder for the stabbing death of 17-year-old Lucas Cavanaugh.

According to court documents, Fishcer was visiting his girlfriend in the Park West area Sunday night when she received a Snapchat message from Cavanaugh. Fishcer then sent messages to Cavanaugh that included “Come over” and “I’ll kill you man”.

The court affidavit shows that Cavanaugh went to the residence and a confrontation ensued. During the altercation, Fischer used a knife he had in his pocket to stab Cavanaugh in the torso.

Authorities say Fischer fled the scene in a vehicle and called his mother, who returned him to the scene of the crime.

Fischer confessed to the crime on video and provided a written statement, according to police.  He was denied bond for the murder charge.
