CHARLOTTE,NC–Former Charlotte mayor Anthony Foxx returned to Charlotte for a meeting Thursday with local business leaders.
The US Transportation Secretary spoke at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting.
He thanked former Mayor Patsy Kinsey for filling in for him and says Patrick Cannon has a great foundation to be mayor.
Foxx says he recently met with the National Governor’s association to attempt to move forward a number of stalled transportation projects across the country, including here in the Queen City.
“It’s not just a federal issue. It’s also the state’s taking responsibility for moving projects faster. You’ve gotta work together to do it. I believe we can get a lot of projects moved through,” says Foxx.
WCCB Charlotte tried to ask about local projects, but Foxx says an ethics agreement requires him to avoid talking specifically about Charlotte.
