
TAYLORSVILLE — Law enforcement officers are searching for an inmate after he escaped from a work assignment on Friday. According to authorities, Michael Brown left the Alexander County Animal Shelter sometime after 2:30 p.m. in a pickup truck owned by the shelter. The truck was later found along Edd Burgess Road.
Brown was serving at least 6 1/2 years after convictions for breaking and entering and as a habitual felon.
Authorities believe Brown might still be in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately.
