CHARLOTTE, NC — People are being warned not to walk or jog alone on a Greenway in south Charlotte after a teenage girl says a man attacked her.

The 16-year-old tells police it happened around noon Thursday at McMullen Creek Greenway off Pineville-Matthews Road.  She says the man tackled her and tried to drag her into the woods.  The attack is not stopping people from using the Greenway, but they are being more cautious.

“I ran a lot less today than I did yesterday just because I was concerned that someone might jump out at me at any time.  So, definitely going to be coming back here with pepper spray from now on,” said south Charlotte resident Mary Bennett.

We spotted police on bikes patrolling the Greenway Friday.  Officers do not have a good description of the attacker.
