CHARLOTTE, NC — A woman and her dog were found dead inside a burning house in North Charlotte. Firefighters made the discovery just before 12:30pm on Poplar Springs Drive in Derita. Detectives haven’t released the cause of the woman’s death. Neighbors say at first they didn’t realize what was going on.
“Yeah, right this close too,” said neighbor Donna Terry. “This close and I didn’t have no idea. Like they said, it was contained, so I didn’t see or hear any smoke.”
Firefighters put out the blaze in less than 15 minutes. The State Bureau of Investigation is also looking into the death.
