Charlotte Motor Speedway Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Research

CHARLOTTE, NC — NASCAR fans will soon be seeing pink!  More than 250 breast cancer survivors, their families and friends painted the pit wall pink at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Wednesday.

It’s all part of a continued effort to raise awareness for breast cancer research, and to honor those who have fought the disease.  Several big names joined the celebration, including NASCAR drivers and soccer pro Mia Hamm.

“I think being able to put faces and names to breast cancer survivors is so important,” said Hamm.

“You go through your treatment, and as you go through that process you become so familiar with so many other women and you really realize you’re not alone,” said breast cancer survivor Fara Palumbo.

NASCAR’S Drive for the Cure 300 will be on October 9 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
