NEW YORK, N.Y. — Bloomingdale’s is under fire for an ad that some say perpetuates rape culture.
The department store chain included an ad in their latest catalog that is receiving a ton of criticism.
The ad shows a man staring at a woman who is looking away with the caption, “Spike your best friend’s eggnog when they’re not looking.”
People took to social media to share their opinions.

Here’s Bloomingdales advertising festive date rape and non-consensual drug abuse to sell fashion. Stay classy. pic.twitter.com/7KiPxmyB02

Bloomingdale’s responded to the outrage on Facebook, apologizing and saying the ad was ‘in poor taste.’
In reflection of your feedback, the copy we used in our recent catalog was inappropriate and in poor taste. Bloomingdale’s sincerely apologizes for this error in judgement.
