CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have two men in custody, and they’re still looking for a third in a jewelry sale gone wrong. Shots broke out around 4pm Friday afternoon at the Belmont Walmart on Hawley Avenue. Police say three men met in the parking lot for a jewelry sale. when the buyers tried to steal the items, the seller pulled a gun.
“Ducking down up under the cars, and people were running,” said witness Jasha Hunter. “Some people had their children and grabbed their children’s hand and ran, and I thought, ‘Oh, God’. I grabbed my phone and started dialing 911.”
Police are now looking for the jewelry seller, who took off and ran into the woods. The man is in his 20s, and was last seen wearing a plaid shirt.
