East Sugar Creek Road Closing for 3 Years

CHARLOTTE, NC — A busy road in NoDa is expected to close any time now, and stay closed for the next three years.

East Sugar Creek Road between Greensboro Street and Northmore Street is closing for construction of the Lynx Blue Line Extension. That will take place over the next six weeks.

After that, NC DOT will begin work on the Sugar Creek Road grade separation project. That won’t finish up until the fall of 2018.

The closure will impact traffic and businesses in the area.

“We’re going to have to move, and we found a place five minutes around the corner. So we can still take care of all of our customers,” said Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care owner Paula Davis.

Drivers can take North Tryon Street to Eastway Drive to get around the closure. CATS bus routes are not affected.
