Mallard Creek Prepares for Annual Barbecue

CHARLOTTE, NC — Politicians and barbecue. The two have gone hand in hand for decades.

The tradition continues on Thursday, with the 86th Annual Mallard Creek Barbecue where politicians will meet and greet voters. The folks at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church were cooking the meat on Monday.

“We can’t always make enough to meet the demand,” said northeast Charlotte resident Rusty Wallace. “However, we don’t have enough time in the day to meet the demand because it’s a pretty good product.”

They will serve more than 14,000 pounds of barbecue, 2,500 gallons of Brunswick stew and two tons of cole slaw.
