CHICAGO (AP) β€” For the first time since 200, the New York Mets are in the World Series. The newly crowned National League champs completed a four-game sweep of the Cubs last night with an 8-3 win in Chicago. Up next for the New Yorkers is the Fall Classic against either Kansas City or Toronto.

TORONTO (AP) β€” The Blue Jays held off elimination yesterday with a 7-1 win over the Royals in Toronto. The win cuts the KC lead to just one game at 3-2 with Game 6 set for tomorrow night in Kansas City.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) β€”San Francisco is playing host to Seattle in the NFL game this evening. Each team has won just two of six games so far this season. The Seahawks have dominated the series of late winning three straight and five of six.

UNDATED (AP) β€” In Top-25 action this evening there are two games being contested. In the first game 22nd-ranked Temple is at East Carolina with 20th ranked California playing at UCLA later in the night.

LAS VEGAS (AP) β€” The first round of the PGA’s Shriners Hospitals event is on the agenda today in Las Vegas. The winner of this event a year ago was Ben Martin. It was his first victory on the PGA Tour.
