Cotswold Business Impacted by More Roadwork

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Construction at several major intersections in the Queen City are having a big impact on traffic and local businesses. In Cotswold, road resurfacing on Sharon Amity Road near Providence Road led to major backups and congestion Friday night.
“I’m so upset because it takes me an hour to get to lunch and back. Every time I try a new way, there, there again!” says Sunny Freeman of Cotswold.
Freeman joins a long list of frustrated drivers in Cotswold who say recent road work is ruining their lives.
“We cant get in and out, and if you can’t get into any of our little restaurants, get our hair done, nails done.” says Freeman.
Freeman was able to make it to Eddie’s Place on Sharon Amity Road, but management there tells us the construction impacted their usual Friday crowd.
Todd Stephenson is the General Manager of Eddie’s Place and says, “I ended up sending about four crew members home right in the middle of lunch because there really was no need for them.”
C-DOT began re-paving several busy roads last Friday. So far they’ve finished work on Fairview Road and South Sharon Amity Road. But work on North Sharon Amity Road in the Cotswold area continues. And it’s putting a dent in the pockets of nearby business owners.
“It is very frustrating. I mean, again, we have our own bills to pay, we’ve got employees to pay, simply running a business,” says Stephenson.
Though roads are paved, they will still have to work on placing lines on the roads so construction will continue through next week.
