CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After almost a decade of planning and a year of construction, uptown Charlotte is getting a cool new park.
First Ward Park is set to open on E. Seventh St. on December 8th.
The 4-acre park, located between ImaginOn and the UNC Charlotte Center City campus, will include the following:
- An open lawn for recreational play and festivals
- An interactive fountain
- A fountain plaza
- An oval pool with trellis
- An outdoor dining area
- Garden walk
- Overlook terrace
- Restrooms
- Flower beds
βFirst Ward Park will be a jewel for the First Ward neighborhood,β said Park and Recreation Director Jim Garges. βThe park will transform the quality of life for nearby residents and students and offer a variety of recreational opportunities for everyone.β
