GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) β€” Starting safety Morgan Burnett has returned to practice for the Green Bay Packers after missing the season opener against Chicago with a calf injury.

The six-year veteran wore a sleeve around his lower left leg during practice Wednesday.

Having Burnett back for Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks and running back Marshawn Lynch would be a boost for a defense that allowed 141 yards rushing and a touchdown on 24 carries to the Bears’ Matt Forte.

The run defense took a hit when starting linebacker Sam Barrington was placed on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday because of a foot injury.

Defensive end Datone Jones also returned to practice after serving a one-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.
