Power Outages Close Two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two elementary schools had to close due to power outages in Charlotte.

David Cox Road Elementary in north Charlotte was canceled Wednesday due to a power outage and Beverly Woods Elementary in south Charlotte closed early Wednesday due to a power outage, according to CMS officials.

Duke Energy says the outage near David Cox Elementary is due to equipment failure on two circuits in the area.  It is not clear whether the overnight storm caused the outage.  

Duke Energy says that outage is affecting approximately 360 customers. Power has been restored to the area.
