Firefighters Battle Blaze In Gastonia Plant
GASTONIA, N.C. – Firefighters battled a commercial structure fire on Sunday morning in Gaston County.
Crowder’s Mountain Fire & Rescue, Union Road Volunteer Fire Department and Ranlo Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a multiple story commercial plant with heavy smoke showing from the side of the building. The name of the plant is CBP Resources Incorporated.
When firefighters entered the building, they came across thick smoke near a large cooker being used at the plant. Firefighters had to open the hatch to the cooker to extinguish the fire inside and around the device.
Firefighters say that the fire was caused after excessive heat built up in the cooker that then ignited the duct work around the device.
A total of 30 personnel were on the scene for more than three hours. The approximate price of damage due to the fire is undetermined at this time.
