8 Year Old Rushed To Hospital After Car Crash Near A Gastonia Elementary School

 GASTONIA, N.C. — Crews were informed at 8:20 a.m. on Friday of a head-on collision involving 2 adults and an 8 year old on Lewis Road. 

One patient was transported to Levine Children’s Hospital, another patient was taken to CMC in Charlotte and one person was taken to Caromount Regional Medical Center. All three passengers suffer from life-threatening injuries.

One car had two passengers and the other had one. All three were pinned in their vehicles. It took 40 minutes and the use of rescue tools for crews to get two passengers out of their car.

Twenty rescue personnel from Crowders Mountain Fire and Rescue, The Gastonia Fire Department, Gaston EMS  and others were on the scene near Chapel Grove Elementary for 90 minutes.

Lewis Road was shut down in both directions in the Chapel Grove Area during the rescue. No word on charges.
