CMS Takes Top Honors in Math

CHARLOTTE, NC — One day after the state reveals 37 Charlotte Mecklenburg schools, that’s 22 percent, are on the list of lowest performing, the district announces it ranks number one in math against 21 top national school districts.

CMS also ranked second in fourth grade reading and third in eighth grade reading. Superintendent Ann Clark says the district still has to improve literacy in schools.

“While we’re pleased and want to take time to acknowledge the great work of our teachers and students and central office support teams, we know, based on state results, and reading in particular, there’s much work we still have to do,” said Clark.

The ranking is from the 2015 National Assessment of Education Progress.
