LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C.– A single vehicle crash backed up Highway 321 in Lincoln County Saturday.

Troopers say the crash happened at 2:22 p.m. Saturday near mile marker 30 on Highway 321 northbound. Β

A witness told troopers the driver was driving all over the road before running off the road and into the median. Β The vehicle went off of a drop off and nosedived about 70 feet and rolled into Clark Creek.

Emergency crews used a ladder truck to pull the driver out of the creek. Β They say the driver was alert and conscious and that they had fallen asleep at the wheel before the crash.

The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries. Β

Troopers say speed and weather do not appear to be factors in the crash.
