LANCASTER, S.C.– A man has been charged with murder in a deadly shooting Saturday night.
Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call for service in the 1200 block of Branch Street around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, police set up a perimeter around the home of 32-year-old Michael Gay. They directed Gay to come out of the house and he was taken into investigative detention.
After entering the home, police found 40-year-old Joshua McManus with an apparent gunshot wound. He died at the scene.
After further investigation, police charged Gay with murder in McManus’ death.
“Our investigators will interview additional witnesses and examine evidence to determine exactly what occurred inside Gay’s home that resulted in Mr. McManus’ death,” according the Sheriff Barry Faile. “The professional response of our deputies and city investigators resulted in the peaceful apprehension of Gay without additional harm to anyone else.”
