UPDATE: Police arrested Samuel Williams on Tuesday after he shot his son during a dispute.
Williams called the police on Monday morning to tell them he shot his son. He has been charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.
The victim, Daniel Williams was transported to Caromont Regional Medical Center for treatment of a single gunshot wound. He was listed in critical condition last evening after surgery.
GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A Gaston County man called the police on Monday morning to tell them he shot his son.
Officials received a 911 call around 11:30 a.m. about a father and son physically fighting in front of their residence on Long Creek Church Rd. Officers were then told that shots had been fired and the son was laying on the ground.
One of the 911 calls came from the father, Samuel Jay Williams, 56, stating he shot his son during the fight. Officers arrived and found one person shot.
Daniel Scott Williams, 28, was transported to Caromont Regional Medical Center by Gaston Emergency Medical Services paramedics with at least one gunshot wound. He is undergoing surgery.
The case remains under investigation. There are no additional details available at this time.
