Northlake Mall Reopens After Christmas Eve Shooting
CHARLOTTE, NC – Northlake Mall reopened Saturday, just two days after an officer-involved shooting left the gunman dead inside a store.
Investigators say it started as an argument between two feuding groups.
18-year-old Daquan Westbrook had a gun and shots were fired. One person was taken to the hospital with a gun shot to the leg.
Off-duty Police Officer Thomas Ferguson shot and killed Westbrook after detectives say Westbrook pointed the gun in his direction.
Shopper Christine Christie says while the shooting is concerning, she says people shouldn’t be fearful.
“Fear, it’s a bad trait to have, because it stops you from going forward. It stops you from going after the things that you’d like to accomplish,” Christie says.
