Correctional Officer arrested after trying to provide marijuana to inmate

POLKTON, N.C.– The Polkton Police Department responded to the Brown Creek Correctional Institution after an officer was unable to pass through electronic security early Monday morning.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the Assistant Superintendent who advised officers of the situation. During that conversation, police say Travis Terez Hubbard ran out of the building and attempted to leave.

Hubbard was stopped by Polkton Police before he could leave.  Police say they found about 1.5 ounces of marijuana inside his vehicle, packaged to deliver to an inmate.

Correctional Officers also found another package with 1 ounce of marijuana and 18 suboxone strips where Hubbard’s vehicle was parked.

Hubbard was arrested and charged with two counts of attempt to provide inmates with controlled substance, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana and suboxone strips, felony possession of marijuana and resist/delay/obstruct an officer.

Hubbard was placed in the Anson County Jail under an $80,000 secured bond.
