Lake Wylie Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

COLUMBIA, S.C. —  South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Wallace Wayne Malcolm, 63, of Lake Wylie, S.C. on 10 counts involving the sexual exploitation of a minor.  The York County Sheriff’s Office, a member of the S.C. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, made the arrest.  Assistance was provided by the Gastonia, N.C. Police Department.

Investigators say that in December 2014, Malcolm was involved in exchanging child pornography via peer-to-peer file sharing on the internet.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at Malcolm’s residence on January 8, where electronic devices were seized for examination.

Malcolm was arrested today and charged with 10 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor in the third degree, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.

Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
