SALISBURY, NC — Deputies have arrested two people following a car jacking and attempted armed robbery early Sunday morning in Rowan County.
Deputies say Juan Alonso and Blanca Alejandre took Todd Motley’s 2012 Dodge Ram at gunpoint in the parking lot of Graham’s Grill on Sherrill’s Ford Road in Salisbury around 6:30am Sunday morning.
Alejandre approached Motley saying she was having car trouble and needed help. Motley offered her a ride, got in his truck, and that’s when Alonso came up to his window armed with a shotgun and wearing a hooded sweatshirt and black ski mask. He demanded Motley get out of the truck and into the back seat. Motley says after getting in the back seat Alonso walked to the back of the truck, and that is when Motley took off running.
Alonso and Alejandre took off in the truck while Motley ran back to his home and called 911.
Deputies then responded to an attempted armed robbery at a nearby home on Stanwyck Road.
There, Edward Church told deputies that suspects matching Alonso and Alejandre’s description had attempted to rob him in his home. When Church began yelling the pair took off on foot.
Deputies found Motley’s truck parked nearby on Spicewood Lane with the motor still running.
Alejandre was located and arrested following a call to a suspicious woman hiding behind vehicles on Sherill’s Ford Road. She was positively identified by Motley and Church.
Alonso was also found around 8pm Sunday evening when deputies were called to Ferrell Lane in response to a homeowner finding a man sleeping under his trailer. Deputies found Motley’s wallet and a pocket knife taken from Motley’s truck on Alonso.
Blanca Alejandre and Juan Alonso were both charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle, and 2nd degree kidnapping for crimes against Todd Motley.
Alejandre was also charged with resisting a public officer in the crime against Motley, as well as attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon for the crimes against Edward Church.
