For the third straight year, local musicians and volunteers will descend on the corner of Trade and Tryon streets to raise awareness and support for those who need a helping hand in the community. The Queen City Hope benefit concert will take place on Oct. 4 at 6 p.m., with this yearβs beneficiary Charlotte Rescue Mission providing a hands-on service project on-site at the event. The free concert will include performances from recording artists Dae-Lee, Gabriel Bello, KC & Julie, Mike Shelton and Royal β all artists who call Charlotte βhome.” Admission to the concert is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring items for the eveningβs service project β assembling βoutreach kits.” These kits contain items like bottled water, snacks, toothpaste, a toothbrush, deodorant, a wash cloth, soap, a comb and a note of encouragement. These kits are used as a tangible tool for people to use to make a difference in the life of our homeless neighbors, either proactively or when approached. After assembly, attendees will be free to keep a couple outreach kits for their own use, while the rest will be distributed through Charlotte Rescue Missionβs volunteer channels.
