Man Charged in South Charlotte Bank Robbery

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officers have charged Lewis Fite, 42, for his involvement in the First Citizens Bank robbery in south Charlotte.

On Wednesday at 1:50 p.m., a man entered the First Citizens Bank on John J. Delaney Drive. The suspect approached a bank employee and demanded money. Once the suspect received money he then fled the scene.

An investigation identified Fite as a possible suspect in this robbery, as well as a robbery at BB&T Bank on Mallard Creek Road in January.

Fite was arrested on Friday and charged with two counts of Common Law Robbery, and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
