UNION COUNTY, NC– Sheriff’s say they continue to see a rise in heroin related issues and crimes in Union County.
Over the past week, Officers say they responded to several heroin related situations.
Last week, an 18 year old female was reportedly taken to the hospital for a possible heroin overdose. After questioning, police determined that she was using heroin at a residence near Weddington. Detectives reportedly searched the residence and located heroin, numerous syringes and other drug paraphernalia.
Michael Patrick Conroy, 21, was arrested and charged with multiple heroin related charges.
In the same day, deputies responded to a call involving a man sleeping in his car with the engine running.
Upon arrival, deputies say they found Igor Volkovsky, 27, unconscious behind the wheel. Volkovsky reportedly still had a syringe in his hand and was found with heroin and other drug paraphernalia in his vehicle.
Tuesday, Sheriff’s say they conducted a traffic stop where drug sniffing dogs located a trafficking amount of heroin in the vehicle. Harley Clinton Helms, 32, was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking heroin.
Thursday, Sheriff’s deputies located a suspicious person parked in a vehicle near New Salem Elementary School. Upon further investigation, deputies discovered a substantial quantity of both heroin and meth.
Ashley Landon Hinson, 36, was arrested and charged with Trafficking heroin and meth.
