CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte) – The Charlotte Knights introduced Julio Vinas as the team’s manager for the 2016 season on Monday at BB&T Ballpark.

Vinas enters his sixth season in the White Sox organization. He spent the last three seasons as manager of Double-A Birmingham where he led the team to a Southern League Championship in 2013.

Vinas says he has an advantage because he is familiar with the minor league players in the organization. As for the type of managing style Vinas will employ in Charlotte–he expects to be aggressive in many areas of the game.

“You are going to see me battling for the guys and fighting for my players,” Vinas said. “So, you might see me get tossed a couple times. It’s just part of it. It’s just how it is.”

Vinas says the organization likes to let hitters swing away but when it comes to late-game situations he will not hesitate to play small-ball to score runs and win games.
