HICKORY, NC — One person is dead, a second in critical condition, and a third in custody after a shooting outside of a Hickory McDonalds.
Police were called to the McDonalds on Highway 321 in Hickory around 5:57pm in reference to a domestic disturbance. When they arrived they found 22-year-old Richelle Lail of Hudson, NC lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. 28-year-old Cody Watts of Hickory was also found with gunshot wounds sitting in a car.
Lail was pronounced dead at the scene, while Watts was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police say 22-year-old Eric Yount of Granite Falls, NC shot the two during what they believe to have been a domestic dispute.
Yount has been charged with the First Degree Murder of Lail, and the Attempted Murder of Watts.
