Presidential Rallies Planned for Monday
CONCORD, NC – Monday will be a busy political day in the Charlotte area.
Republican front-runner Donald Trump is coming to Concord. And former President Bill Clinton will make a stop at Johnson C. Smith University in West Charlotte.
Rudy Edwards has his ticket and plans to be at the Cabarrus Arena and Event Center early Monday morning to line up and see Donald Trump.
“He’s a man that I feel like’s got some backbone. He says what he means and I think he’ll do what he says,” Edwards explains.
Doors open at 9:00 am and Trump is expected to speak around Noon.
But not everyone’s excited about the visit.
Valerie Weeks says Trump’s message doesn’t represent her views.
“I think he needs to learn more of his politics and stop joking and clowning, so that when he does come it won’t be like a circus,” Weeks says.
Later Monday afternoon, Bill Clinton will campaign for Hillary at Johnson C. Smith University.
Like Trump, people we talked with had mixed feelings about the former president’s visit.
JCSU freshman De’Shea Douglas says she wants the Clintons to talk more about how they’ll help college students.
“I worry about getting through college. He’s not campaigning to help me through college. He hasn’t talked to me specifically,” Douglas says.
But Trevor Lowery says having Bill on campus is a big deal for the University.
“I think it’s going to be good for Charlotte also. Because Bill Clinton is a former president.
And it’s going to bring a lot of hype,” he says.
Clinton’s event starts at 4:15pm in Biddle Hall – with doors opening at 3:15.
