Darne Brown will spend the rest of his life in prison after a judge handed down his sentence Thursday for the 2012 murder of then 17-year-old Hawa Gabbidon.
Brown was convicted on September 28th after an 18 day long trial. He was found guilty on charges of First Degree Murder, Murder of an Unborn Child and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
The judge sentenced Brown to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.
According to reports, Gabbidon was found shot to death at Thereasea Clark Elder Park in July 2012. She was roughly six weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
Brown reportedly told police he may have been the father of the child.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man has been charged with Murder in connection to a homicide that took the life of a pregnant teenager and her unborn child nearly four years ago.
Authorities have charged 26-year-old Darne Nicholas Brown with the murder of then 17-year-old Hawa Gabiddon in July 0f 2012. Brown was currently in custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s office on unrelated charges.
Detectives with the homicide unit obtained warrants for the arrest of Brown based on information and evidence gathered over the course of the investigation.
Brown was transported to police headquarters, where he was interviewed and, following the completion of the interview, charged with Murder and Murder of an Unborn Child.
