Β WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republicans say the battle to repeal Obamacare is not over. Β The Supreme Court upheld the law Thursday. Β The Justices ruled six to three to support a provision that provides federal health care subsides to more than six million Americans.
Challengers say the words established by the state clearly meant the federal government should not have helped people in states that do not have their own health care exchanges. Β The Justices disagreed.
While President Obama calls it a win for Americans, Governor Pat McCrory says it’s time to move forward with Medicaid reform here in North Carolina.
“For many, insurance would have become unaffordable again,” said the President. Β “Many would have become uninsured again. Β Ultimately everyone’s premiums could have gone up.”
“It clarified a poorly written bill, and we needed that clarification, so we can move one and understand the impact of the Affordable Care Act,” said Gov. McCrory.
