CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte) — The Charlotte 49ers women’s will host a Women’s NIT game on Thursday at 7pm against Wake Forest.
Charlotte owns a 19-11 record heading into the postseason, tying for the most appearances in the last 14 seasons of any current Conference USA member. Head coach Cara Consuegra has led four of her Niners squads to the postseason, tying for the most of any coach in program history.
“Last year we were really young and rebuilding,” Consuegra said. “We didn’t make it to the postseason for the first time in a long time and so our seniors and the rest of the team had a goal this year that they were going to make it back to postseason. I’m proud of them for the work they have done, but we still have work we want to do.”
Wake Forest carries a 16-15 ledger into the 14th all-time meeting between the two programs, including the third in WNIT action.
