GASTONIA, NC — Members of the Gaston Clergy & Citizens Coalition (GC3) and Gaston County Law Enforcement signed a covenant today that aims to make interactions between residents and law enforcement a shining example for others to follow.
The signing took place Thursday morning at St. Stephens Unity Place in Gastonia. The covenant was the result of the rise in racial unrest that happened across the country in the summer of 2015.
Members of the GC3 decided it was better to be more proactive and wanted to build a more visible and action-oriented relationship with local law enforcement.
The hope of the covenant is that others will see the actions that they have taken and seek to follow their example by working together.
