
Β CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Β Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened on Kings drive and East Β 7th street.The collision happened just after a 11a.m. Saturday.Β
Police say that Β Larry Wayne Lynch, 53 was operating his 1999 Buick Lesabre at a high rate of speed coming down Central Avenue towards North Kings Drive. Β
As Lynch approached the intersection of Central Ave/7th Street, he failed to stop for a red light. When he entered the intersection, the vehicle was struck in the passenger side by a 2011 Chevrolet Impala heading outbound on 7th Street. Β
Officials say that after the impact, both vehicles rotated in the roadway. Β Lynch then drove off the left side of the road and down a slight embankment and into a parking lot. Β The rear of his vehicle then struck the front of a parked 2000 Chevrolet Suburban before coming to a stop.Β
Lynch and the rear left passenger, Cristina Villacorta, 44, of the Buick were both transported to Carolina’s Medical Center-Main for non-life threatening injuries.
Β The front right passenger, Flor Villcorta Margarita, 72, and the rear right passenger, Ramos Villacorta, 80 were both pronounced deceased at the scene by Medic Personnel.
The driver of the Chevrolet Impala, Ryan McDonnell, 18, was transported to Carolina’s Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.Β
Upon his release from Carolina’s Medical Center, Larry Lynch was charged with two counts of Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle, reckless driving, and a red light violation. Β He was transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail.Β
Alcohol is not a factor in this crash. Β Speed is a factor in this crash.Β
