Arrests Made in Robbery Crime Spree

 CHARLOTTE,N.C– The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department  has charged Montreal Forman, 24, and Tyrell McDuffie, 23, for their involvement in a string of 15 robberies that started in June.

On Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at  8:00 a.m., McDuffie entered  LA Insurance on Westerly Hills Drive.  He then pointed a gun at the employee and demanded money. The employee was able to shut the door to the business and Duffie fired a shot. He then fled the scene on foot. No one was injured during the incident. 
 
On Friday, January 23, 2015, at 8:08 a.m., a man entered the Rite-Aid on Little Rock Road. The man brandished a firearm and demanded property from the business. Once the man obtained the property, he fled the scene in a vehicle. 
 
During the investigation, Police say that  Forman and McDuffie were identified as possible suspects.  On January 30, 2015, detectives located both suspects at a residence and Forman and McDuffie agreed to voluntarily come to police headquarters to be interviewed.
 
Upon completion of the interviews, detectives charged Forman and McDuffie with the robbery from the Rite-Aid and McDuffie with the LA Insurance robbery. 
 
McDuffie was charged with two counts of second degree Kidnapping, robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill.  
 
 Forman was charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and second degree Kidnapping.  
 
They have both are in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. 
 
On Friday, January 23, 2015, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department held a news conference regarding an armed robbery series that involved fifteen armed robberies over the past eight months.
 
Officials say they are looking in to the possibility that Forman and McDuffie are responsible for other armed robberies in the series and additional charges are pending.
