Transgender Day Of Remembrance Rally In Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There will be a transgender day of remembrance rally in Uptown Charlotte Thursday, March 31st at 6:30pm.

According to a news release, all transgender, non-binary, queer, gender nonconforming people and their allies are invited to stand together at the Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 E. 4th Street.

This rally is in response to the recent passing of House Bill 2. Β The bill stops cities from adding to their discrimination laws, including changing local minimum wage and creating a statewide non discrimination law that does not protect the LGBT community members.

Organizers say this will be a peaceful demonstration. Β Wells Fargo’s Duke Energy Center will also show their support by lighting up the building in Uptown with the colors of the trans flag, according to a news release.

The event will be held from 6:30-8pm at 600 E. 4th Street.
