BOONE, N.C.– Officials with the Boone Police Department are investigating the death of an Appalachian State University student.Β

Police say that on Friday, January 30, 2015 just before 9:15p.m., Β Boone Police, Fire, and Watauga MedicsΒ responded to Yosef Drive in Boone, NC, for a medical emergency.

When they arrived on scene, officials say they found 23-year-old Michael C. SchmittΒ in distress and transported him to Watauga Medical Center whereΒ he died.

Police say there are no indications of foul play at this time.Β
