49ers Down Winthrop, 7-1 at BB&T Ballpark
CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte) — Charlotte’s Logan Sherer went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI to lead the 49ers past Winthrop, 7-1, on Tuesday night at BB&T Ballpark.
Charlotte improved to 13-16 with the win while Winthrop fell to 16-13.
Sherer, a Matthews native, began the scoring for the 49ers with an RBI single in the third frame. Charlotte added runs on a wild pitch and a Zach Jarrett RBI single in the fourth and fifth frames.
Leading 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Drew Ober and Sherer hit back-to-back home-runs as part of a three run inning.
Charlotte plays at No. 14 NC State on Wednesday before traveling for a three game series at No. 17 Florida Atlantic beginning Friday. Winthrop begins a three-game set at Presbyterian College on Friday.
