KANNAPOLIS, NC — Man’s best friend lives up to the name after helping a family escape a late night house fire in Kannapolis Thursday.
The fire broke out around 11:40pm Thursday night on Wind Song Court in the Remmington Estates neighborhood off of South Main Street. Officials say the fire started in a charcoal grill on the back porch that had been used earlier in the evening.
The family was outside of the home by the time crews arrived. They say their dog alerted them to the fire before the smoke alarms went off giving them plenty of time to escape.
No one was injured in the incident.
