Charlotte Swim Coach Banned For Life Following Sexual Misconduct Arrest

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A local swim coach has been banned for the rest of his life from coaching or owning a USA Swimming club.

Jamie Thomas, 54, was charged with sexual misconduct involving a minor in September.  He is the owner and coach of a club in Charlotte called New South Swimming.

Thomas was arrested in Alabama on September 18, 2013.

The governing body for swimming handed down the permanent suspension on Monday.  They claim Thomas violated the USA Swimming code of conduct.

He was initially suspended by governing body the same day of his arrest.
