CHARLOTTE N.C. — A 6-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle in East Charlotte around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police said the hit and run occurred in the 1300 block of Eastway Drive.
Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit said the boy and his family were crossing the street when a white work van struck the boy.
The driver is a Hispanic male in his mid-30s with curly black hair, wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans according to investigators.
The boy was transported to Carolinas Medical Center and was pronounced dead as a result of the injuries.
